Destin’s food scene just got a little cooler—and a lot more flavorful. Sandos Beachside, a brand-new sandwich shop and Nineteen33 Bar, an upstairs full-service bar, is now open, bringing beachy energy and bold flavor to a spot locals and tourists alike will want to check out. The space is uniquely designed in a shipping container that allows a convenient grab-and-go option for customers.
The brains behind the concept? Shaun Cooper and Nic Ascenzo, longtime friends who reconnected in Las Vegas and decided to bring their combined food-and-beverage know-how to Cooper’s hometown of Destin. Cooper, a Choctawhatchee High School grad, said their goal was to create something that feels fun, approachable, and distinctly local.
“We want people to feel like they’re on vacation—whether they’re visiting or just getting off work,” said Cooper in an interview with Get The Coast. (Read Full Interview HERE).
Sandos Beachside delivers on that vision with a menu built around Onyx-brand coffee, hearty sandwiches, house-seasoned chips, breakfast served from 10am to 5pm, and a full lineup of beer, wine, and cocktails in the upstairs bar space from 12pm to 9pm. From classics like an Italian titled the “FUHGEDDABOUDIT” and their take on a club sandwich to their chip-topped signature sandwiches (yes, on the sandwich!), the vibe is nostalgic, casual, and just a little indulgent—in the best way.
The team sources Boar’s Head meats, bakes cookies fresh in-house, and offers local coffee for early risers or anyone in need of a midday pick-me-up. Whether you’re coming in sandy-footed from the beach or stopping by on your lunch break, the atmosphere is relaxed, upbeat, and made for hanging out.
Located just a block from the beach, Sandos Beachside is poised to become a go-to for locals looking for a chill bite and beachgoers wanting to refuel with flavor.
